To reduce disparities in health, we must have a research workforce engaged and skilled in the conduct of health disparities research.
Duke Center for Research to Advance Healthcare Equity will contribute to that pipeline by providing career development support to early-stage investigators proposing rigorous research to develop or test interventions which address the REACH Equity Center Theme.
REACH Equity will provide 2-year mentored career development awards to protect at least 50% Total Professional Effort, research support, and access to all REACH Equity activities.
Given the importance of increasing the diversity of the disparities research workforce, our goal is for at least 50% of awardees to come from under-represented groups.
The career development component of this award includes REACH Equity activities, such as Health Disparities Research Curriculum, bimonthly Health Disparities Research Works-in-Progress Seminar Series, and Annual Disparities Research Colloquium.
REACH Equity scholars are invited under the Center’s “umbrella” of collaboration, fellowship, and supplemental mentorship, including regular meetings with Center faculty and interactions and support from REACH Equity Cores.
