Reaching for Equity One Step at a Time

"What is most exciting about REACH Equity is its goal to move from describing racial and ethnic disparities in health to developing actionable ways for health care providers and health systems to improve patient care and reduce these disparities."
Dr. Kimberly S. Johnson, Director of REACH Equity

The Duke Center for REsearch to AdvanCe Healthcare Equity addresses racial and ethnic disparities in health by developing and testing interventions to improve the quality of patient-centered care in the clinical encounter.

REACH Equity is one of 12 centers funded by the National Institute of Minority Health and Health Disparities (NIMHD), part of the National Institutes of Health. These specialized research centers are designed to conduct multidisciplinary research, research training, and community engagement activities focused on improving minority health and reducing health disparities. They play a vital role in realizing NIMHD's mission to support research in minority health and health disparities, promote the training of a diverse research workforce, disseminate research findings, and foster innovative collaborations and partnerships.
